New Patients

Blockhouse Bay Dental Centre is a warm and welcoming place that offers you an experience you probably haven’t had before in dentistry. We strive to create a comfortable environment with aromatherapy, fresh flowers, interesting works of art and the latest magazines. Each member of our staff will greet you and make you feel at home from the moment you step in.

Your Initial Visit

We’ll have you complete some paperwork before you see your dentist. First, you’ll chat about what has brought you in and what you’d like to achieve. Then, an examination is performed that evaluates your teeth, gums, jaw joints, facial tissues and the soft tissues of the mouth, as well as a check for signs of oral cancer.

Every 1-2 years, we’ll take two small digital X-rays (radiographs) that allow your dentist to look in between your back teeth for caries, or decay. If necessary, a panoramic X-ray can be taken that allows for the examination of the jaws and teeth. Occasionally, you may need further treatment, which we’ll be happy to discuss with you. We work in a partnership with you, proceeding at the pace you choose and can space out treatment as needed, completing the most urgent first.

• To have a complete examination on the first visit (if you wish)
• Time to confer with your dentist
• Diagnosis of disease before it begins to cause you discomfort
• A confirmation call to remind you of your appointment
• A follow-up call after major procedures to ensure that you are recovering properly
• When possible, same-day treatment of emergencies
• Advice and demonstration of home care techniques
